Yesterday at the gym I worked on my chest, shoulders, and triceps! I used to hate doing upper body because I felt so weak and didn’t want to make a fool of myself and my posture from having scoliosis doesn’t help the self-esteem part there but I’ve seen such great improvements and love it! I’m very used to working out my legs from years of volleyball and love lower body but upper body days are making me just as happy. I also used to have horrible “bra bulge” and didn’t like the back of my arms but through toning up and losing some fat I no longer have arm chub, I have triceps! These exercises are my favorite chest exercise: decline bench press, shoulder exercise: front and side raises, and tricep exercise: tricep extensions with a rope. As I get ready to pack and leave again, I’m also getting ready for all of the delicious food I’ll encounter! Eating healthy is hard when you’re in a new place but finding healthy options at any restaurant usually isn’t. This year I went to New York three times for work and the first weekend we stayed across from Best Bagel and Coffee which made up my breakfasts and lunches... delicious but probably not the best idea. The last time I made it an effort to stop by a brunch place I went to a few years ago and LOVED. I got avocado toast with poached eggs and English breakfast tea with a splash of almond milk! It was a bit further, but the walk was worth it and I felt great finally finding something green in NYC! I’m not saying only eat healthy when you’re traveling, there are so many new things to try and you should! I’ll be in Barcelona eating churros (my favorite), in Paris with some hot chocolate and pastries, and London eating all the scones at tea but I’ll balance that it with healthy options when available and lots and LOTS of walking. The reason I came up with the name “Lo Without Limits” is because as I was thinking of what to call this I came across a sign that said “Love Without Limits” and drop that -ve and BOOM I have my name! It also reminds me that I can do anything without limits as long as I put my mind to it. I will continue to workout and further my limits, I will expand my mind through limitless opportunities, and as I travel more, I literally have no limits of where I could go (except for Antarctica probably). . In the theme of just dropping the -ve off of things, I will be calling these next couple months my #SummerOfLo! I’ll be traveling for a few weeks pretty soon and when I’m back I have a couple small jobs lined up but other than that, I have so much free time to do things and explore!! I have a few goals that I’ve wanted to achieve for years now and I no longer want to put them off while I have the time and if it turns out I don’t like it then at least I tried! . Here are some of my #SummerOfLo goals . 🌿learn to cook more things outside of my salad bowls and regular meal preps . 🌿read up on more economics and finance, I’m 23 and want to be able to understand these things without running to my dad each time I have a question . 🌿learn more French! I took it in college for a year but didn’t do too well and a second language is something I really want to know . 🌿learn an instrument! My biggest regret as a kid is not learning an instrument and I have always wanted to. (Summer of Lo has to take into consideration my lack of income though so we’ll see how this one turns out. Maybe my 10 year old cousin can teach my violin in exchange for math tutoring) . 🌿try out new physical activities like boxing, yoga (I’d love to improve my posture), and calisthenics (I want to do more than just a pull-up!) . 🌿 spend more time with the people I LOVE (although soomeee are leaving me for Italy for the rest of the year)

This was me playing my first year of club volleyball NINE years ago! The crazy part about me at this time was how negatively I saw myself and my body. Going into my freshman year of high school I was over 130lbs (puberty can do that to you) and by the end of freshman year and volleyball everyday I was down to 108lbs. As a freshman who lost 30 pounds in a year, I still saw myself as fat and that I had a lot of weight to lose. I would get magazines like Seventeen and rip out the little workout pages each month and put them in a folder that I would open after practice and do the little workouts in my bedroom after my homework. Over the years, especially this past year and a half, my views of myself, eating, and working out have definitely changed. I no longer do cardio all the time because I hate it and I always have and I won’t waste my time and energy doing things I hate. Instead, I’ve grown to love lifting weights and I now focus on getting stronger not skinnier (although weight loss and “newbie gains” have been a great side effect). I’m not saying that I wake up everyday loving my body, I don’t, I’ll always have a wide back, it takes me a lot of work to have any little bit of booty, and my stomach will never be completely flat as long as I’m even looking at food but I no longer have weight loss as my goal. Now, I’m always hovering around 125 and the thought of getting anywhere towards 108 again would honestly look grossly unhealthy and no matter my weight, I’m happier now than I was almost a decade ago! I also know more about nutrition and how to make healthy be delicious (not feeling sick after eating processed foods aka every meal back then is also very nice) and I’m more intuitive with myself as well. I tried every diet and health food in the book, I would carry chia seeds around with me since they would “make me feel fuller” and make the overflowing YogurtLand seem not so bad by just pouring them on top, now I eat YogurtLand (last night) and while it may not make me feel amazing after, I’m not beating myself up for it! The amount I’ve grown just this past year is crazy and I can’t wait to keep growing and improving! 🌿
